Varaždinske Toplice are the oldest thermal spa and sanitarium in Croatia. Founded on a natural thermal spring, it is a place where people live and heal themselves through all cultural epoches. The ancient Romans named the village with AQUAE IASSAE, and left for our inheritance the archeological site, but also rich health resort. If you are round-tripping the County, don't miss to visit Lepoglava. It is the town of first Croatian university and a cradle of Croatian Pavlini (white friars), whose abby has a 600 year old history, and works of art preserved in the church and abby represent masterpieces of Croatian baroque culture. The best known murals of the friar Ivan Ranger are still decorating walls of churches around Lepoglava. One more thing, if you visit Lepoglava, don't leave without the unique Croatian souvenir - far known Lepoglava lace into which is by hands of local women weaved all the love and inheritance of this area.
